Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation

At Gardner Facial Plastic Surgery and Radiance Medical Spa your safety is our top priority. Our Master Aesthetician is a trained and certified Phlebotomist and Master Aesthetician.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) utilizes the healing power of blood platelets to improve the skin. A small amount of your blood is drawn, and then it is placed in a centrifuge, which removes the red blood cells. This leaves a concentrated amount of blood platelets, plasma, and white blood cells. PRP is applied to the skin after microneedling is performed to the treated areas, where the PRP can penetrate the skin through the hundreds of microscopic punctures. This delivers the healing platelets and white blood cells into the dermis layer of the skin and gives a more youthful look.

Who is a candidate for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy?

You may be a candidate for a PRP if you are noticing fine lines and wrinkles, have dark circles under your eyes, or simply want to help rebuild collagen. PRP will also help with tone and texture.

What results can I expect from Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy?

With every facial rejuvenation treatment, patients will continue to see results over time. Typically, people see results in 3-4 weeks, but results will continue over time by being consistent with a treatment plan and using medical grade products your Master Aesthetician recommends for your specific skin type and concern. It is recommended to complete 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. Your Master Aesthetician will discuss this further with you during your skin consultation.

What is the downtime?

We recommend that you do not wash your face for up to 6-8 hours post procedure. Washing your face will remove the “liquid gold” aka PRP. We recommend that PRP remains on your face for up to 8 hours for optimal results. You can expect to have moderate erythema for up to 7-14 days. Some people may experience mild peeling around day 4-8 post procedure. Most people will not peel from this treatment and will only experience moderate erythema or feeling tight and dry for up to 3 days. Your master aesthetician will review products that will help with that phase. We recommend that you sleep on clean pillowcases, avoid dogs licking your face, kids touching your face, exfoliating, and avoid using AHA/BHA/retinoid products for up to 7 days post procedure to avoid an infection. Your Master Aesthetician will discuss this further with you.
